Marmaduke's Story
Marmaduke has made an amazing recovery from his sudden, life threatening bloat situation!! Just two weeks after being saved from a high kill shelter, our big, sweet boy was in a different kind of trouble. As he made the hour long ride to the emergency vet in Mount Pleasant from Georgetown, he stood looking out of the front windshield the entire trip, as if to speed us onward towards some kind of relief from the excruciating pain he was undergoing.
After his unexpected yet successful, life saving surgery on Oct.26th, we knew we made the right decision. Marmaduke has never met a stranger, and everyone who meets him falls in love! A big thank you to Dr. Klein and her staff, and to the many kind folks who have contributed positive thoughts, sent donations and expressed genuine concern for gentle Marmaduke's well being.
But we still need your help in taking care of Marmaduke's medical expenses. Any amount is greatly appreciated and a small contribution by many will go a long way. If you feel inspired to do so, please pass the story of Marmaduke on and encourage your dog loving friends to help this kind soul. Marmaduke is also in need of a foster home, and will soon be ready to find his permanent, fur-ever home.
Marmaduke has been convalescing well in a temporary foster home in Mt. Pleasant, and needs a place of his own. Although he acts as if he never had surgery at all, he needs to be in a calmer environment with more one-on-one attention and maybe only one or two laid back four footed friends. He gets along well with most other dogs, but will stand up for himself against pushy males or incorrigible humpers :) Marmaduke is handsome, friendly, crate trained, doesn't mind kitties (but chases scampering ones), loves his crate and chewing his bone. He is rarely seen without a toy in his mouth. He is ready to happily hang out in a somewhat low key house, porch or your fenced back yard.
